Islamic hypocrisy at it's best

It his latest attempts to paint a picture of a peaceful law abiding Islamic community and of course to promote the fictional idea that Muslims in the UK are victimised and living in some sort of anti Islamic police state, Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari the leader of the Muslim Council of Britain has accused Britain of being dangerously close to becoming like Nazi Germay in the 1930's

In this make believe world that most Muslims appear to live in, they are the victims at the hands of their evil British oppressors, a fiction which of course falls at the first hurdle - I don't remember invites going out or anybody being forced to leave an Islamic country for a Christian one, nor do I recall any non Muslim suicide bombers or Christians, Hindus, Sikhs or Jews carrying placards in the street calling for the be-heading of those who insult their religion.

Dr Bari in this strange and insulting scenario of course puts Muslims in the UK in the role of the Jew in Nazi Germany. Funny the last time I popped into town I didn't notice anyone being rounded up or beaten in the street, nor have I seen any concentration camps or gas chambers, I did however notice a great big Mosque.

It seems we gave an inch and somebody took several miles.

A scary thing is that facts don’t matter. They never have, they never will. What Dr. Bari is trying to do is no different to what most other politicians do. Invoke emotions. People don’t check facts, they react. If Muslims will start laming any misfortune they have on victimisation, that he has achieved his goal. How to change this course of event, is our real challenge.

  You are absolutely right, I think we are at a point though where it is getting increasingly difficult to appease the Muslim community.
  
  After 7/7 many Muslims including some families of the suicide bombers blamed the bombings on a British government conspiracy rather than accept that their fellow Muslims had done this. They then of course claim that they are victimised and living in a police state.
  
  The reality is that that tighter security across the UK, the debate about ID cards and further laws to assist in the war on terror affect us all, and are caused as a direct result of the actions of Muslim militants in the UK.
  
  Dr Bari as you have said has given every Muslim in the UK an excuse to blame their adoptive country for any mishap that may befall them.

^^ really? I am muslim and he has given me no such excuse, I have a mind of my own and surprisingly other muslims in the UK do as well. Dr Bari has the right to express his opinion but he does not speak for each and every muslim.

What is scary about living in Britain as a muslim is the new laws which make it v. easy for the police to detain ppl (or should I say muslims) without charge for so long and do as much as they please for apparently no reason (rem the forest gate incident?)

We are going through unprecedented times and muslims will feel particularly under scrutiny but it is really important not to isolate the muslim community in general and to make them feel like the are the enemies that eveyone is watching, which I admit is not an easy task.

  The people who think for themselves are those who have the chance to stop the snowball. The more there are the better our chance as a society.
  
  Unfortunately, as history teaches us over and again, most people -- regardless of religion -- don't think for themselves. But prefer to be led by emotional calls.
  
  Fortunately, English cynicism and scepticism makes them less likely to be carried by cheap rhetoric than most other nations. However, less likely is not the same as unlikely. It is those who think for themselves, regardless of religion and authenticity, which should be heard more rather than the formal lines.

You have just proven my point for me in it's entirety. Knowingly or not you have already assumed the role of 'victim'

Let me tell you what is scary about living in Britain, mad mullahs preaching hate against the west, suicide bombers and the rise of militant Islam.

You do not mention 7/7 but cite 'Forest Gate' where the Police acted on specific - albeit incorrect intelligence and accidentally shot a Muslim male, do you really think the Police spent over 2,000,000 on the raid acting out of racism against Muslims?

Interestingly you point out that Dr Bari has the right to express his opinion, (and in doing so has offended many thousands of people) Leading Muslims have clearly stated that freedom of speech should not apply to those speaking of, or rather criticising Islam, a one way street perhaps?

Suicide bombers - Hindu's in the partition of India to rid the country of Muslims. Also in the 40s British soldiers in the middle east were bombed by Jewish terrorists, and need I mention the religious and territorial actions of the IRA? Don't act as though only one religion perpetrates international crime.

Invite to the country, 2 cases.
The British Nationality Act in 1948 which gave all commonwealth citizens free entry to Britain was an invite to any commonwealth person, including muslims, to come settle here.
Also in 1972 Idi Amin kicked out the minority of Asian people from Uganda, many of them Muslims. We invited them here to seek asylum.

  British soldiers and Police were indeed bombed by Jewish terrorists in the 1940's During the crusades Christians rampaged through the middle east and yes the Tamil Tigers have used suicide bombers. The IRA are a catholic group but I would suggest their actions were instigated by territorial claims rather than religion.
  
  I think you missed the point though, i'm talking about this country AND this century, we have only one problem - militant Islam.
  
  As for invites the nationality act was just that, an act of parliament allowing commonwealth citizens free entry to Britain, not an invite. it was believed at the time that not many people would want to come here to settle.

Mike, There is a difference between expressing an opinion and ridiculing someone’s faith, which only serves to polarize people, which in the present climate is unhelpful to say the least. I think this is what these “leading muslims” you refer to were trying to express but more often than not, people only hear what they want to.

Do I need to mention 7/7? It was as frightening for myself as it was for you, but if you want an apology you won’t get it from me, I am muslim but I did not carry out those actions and I don’t believe any knowledgeable muslim could have done such a thing.

When I cited the forest gate incident I was giving you the p.o.v of a muslim living in the UK, that quite easily their hse could be raided in the middle of the night and ppl shot only on grounds of suspicion.

And that is exactly the problem, the Muslim community denies involvement and buries it's head in the sand everytime something happens instead of taking hold of the problem and trying to do something about it.

By saying that no knowledgeable Muslim could have done such a thing you are in effect saying 'not my problem' knowledgeable or not the bombers were not just terrorists who happened to be Muslim but acting they believed in the name of Islam.

No ones house is 'easily' raided in the middle of the night Muslim occupants or otherwise. Senior police officers, judges mountains of paperwork, intelligence, 2,000,000 spent - this wasn't done on a hunch to justify this kind of spending would suggest that there is alot more to this than meets the eye.

Mohammed Abdulkahar was not shot on grounds of suspicion he was shot accidentally, obviously very different to the sensational idea that you were suggesting that our police force now "shoot only on grounds of suspicion"

These events and those that perpetrate it are as much my problem as they are yours, as much a problem the muslim community has to resolve as does the govt and police.

What I resent is this idea that because these men claim they acted out of Islamic convictions the muslim community has to be held to account for their actions and they are expected to come up with a solution.

To the best of my knowledge mosques and islamic centres are making an effort in the light of these events to engage with young ppl and draw them away from militant propaganda.

But their efforts can alone cannot solve this rise of terrorism.

To be frank I don't know what the solution is perhaps you can enlighten me.

  I'm confused now - how can the police or the government solve the problem when the Muslim community believe that every house raided constitutes a racially motivated attack by the police.
  
  Surely when investigating Islamic terrorists a vast percentage of people arrested, searched or questioned would be Muslim? This is purely common sense but you call it a police state.
  
  Britain is a small island being filled to the brim with groups of people of varying religions and beliefs who rather than integrate with the British way of life expect the indigenous population to change to suit them. Dr Bari for example - His aim, he says, will be to encourage Britain to adopt more Muslim ways, to stop drinking and gambling and to follow many of the teachings of Islam.
  
  I wonder what would happen if I moved to an Islamic country and in a newspaper interview said I wanted that country to adopt more British ways, a few casinos, alcohol freely available and free speech for all. Hmm I know.
